The installation Mise En Scène confronts the visitor with a projected reality that penetrates the physical space. The characteristics of Zaal 5, the space where this work was installed, play a very important role within the piece. The space with its specific architectural shape can be completely darkened with long black curtains. Furthermore, the grid on the roof can be used to place lights, as is the case in a theatre hall. I used these elements to ask questions about the space as such and the way we perceive it. The big projection mirrors all elements in the space except one, the viewer.

To be able to mimic the space, a scale model of the space was build in the studio (see images above). The work was the result of an open call to propose an installation for Workspace 06, a project initiated by the Filmhuis in The Hague to stimulate new forms of video art.
