The installation titled "The Fringing Forest" consists of a seven minute loop showing images of a forest on a summer day. The sounds that surround the audience in the exhibition space consist of various birds living in the woodlands across Europe.
The comfortable atmosphere of both sound and image is slowly penetrated by an airy sound, followed by a low rumbling. Through the branches and leaves, an oil refinery becomes more and more visible. All birds silence their songs. After a minute the installation takes us back into the woods, and the situation slowly returns to its previous state.
